Today was the first chance that I could test the Nikon 500mm f/8 N Reflex Lens that I got for Christmas in good light and on the Nikon D810. This little lens is impressive and is not as hard to focus as stated in reviews/blogs on mirror lens. It is a manual focus lens but the focus conformation dot in the view finder tells me when it is in focus. A tripod was used in all the shots.

Excellent lighting and crisp detail. Super photographs
I purchased a 600mm f/8 Sigma mirror lens in a Nikon mount back in 1986 and never regretted doing so.
Sure it had the typical mirror characteristics, focus a bit soft at times, contrast could be better and the donut shaped out of focus highlights could be a little bothersome at times....but nothing could give me that kind of reach for the money ($185).
I got many nice pics with that lens on Fujichrome. My avatar image being one of them.

Very good shots Jerry.
Three very nice shots, Jerry. I like the active one in #2 showing the eagle's outspread wings.
Great shots of that eagle. Very sharp.
