Now that the busy weekends of Santa Trains are over and I edited and posted my Photo Essay of the event I can experiment with individual shots. Here is a B&W conversion of one from the essay with emphasis on the grungy dirty side of the crew's jobs. Here are two variations.

Thanks. I produced the second as an experiment. It is interesting, but I too think the first is better.

Your first photograph is an excellent composition and a superb conversion to Black and White with strong resolution.
Well taken and processed.

This subject screams B&W. I really like the first one best. Both are good. Simple composition that tells a great story. Wonderful photo.

It definitely has the "look and feel" of steam locomotive operations. Your first photo would look good blown up and hung up on the wall of your station house.

Thank you, I am thinking of suggesting we put up a photo gallery wall at the museum now that we have our library/archives building up. Perhaps even sell prints through the gift shop. We have several photographers among our members and even a couple of college teachers who bring their classes to the museum for shoots.
