In response to my message about the rebirth of Calumet Photographic, two readers voiced their displeasure with Adorama. I'd like to add to that feeling. About 5 years ago I purchased a new Nikon lense from them and received a refurbished one instead. I complained, sent it back, and said I wanted a new one. Guess what? I again received a refurbished one. I got my money back but I don't think I'll ever trade with them.

Is it possible that the order you placed and paid for was actually for a refurbished lens? Usually there's a significant difference of price between a refurbished and an unopened box new. If you paid the amount for a refurbished lens, that would certainly explain why Adorama replaced your first refurbished lens with yet another refurbished lens. While placing the order online, it is not too difficult to accidentally overlook the "refurbished" in the product description.

No, I specifically asked for a new lense each time. After the first time the rep apologized and said he'd correct the error. Plus the price quoted and the price I paid was for a new lense.

Interesting. I have had nothing but good experiences with Adorama and AdoramaPix. Although I have ordered only bags, accessories and developing from them I have had good service. It seems sometimes that the product almost arrives before I order it.
On the other hand I have been less fortunate in my experiences with my two local camera stores Schillers and Creve Couer Camera and will not be returning to either of them.

I have purchased a lot of equipment from Adorama and had first class service. Never a problem
