This is true for the "toy" dslrs like nikon...However TRUE dslrs ( aka Canon ) should be cleaned by a professional....Check with a local camera store or if you are a member of a photography club someone should a good place to take it... :-D :-D :D :D

Looks like you used the Canon grammar-checker.
As they say, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
My last data point was a decade ago with a Canon A1. As I recall, it cost me about $100 to get it cleaned and lubed and the shutter calibrated. Nothing broken, no repairs required. This was a DC based shop. They did great work.
I can't imagine it's gone down in price.

Just for sensor cleaning expect to pay between $35 and $50 at a camera shop that offers this, some may charge more. You can buy a kit for about $45 that has the swabs and they have to buy the solution as well, but I hate to even think about touching my sensor with anything.

Dropped my Nikon D5100 with lens in the mud while duck hunting. Local shop cleaned lens, body and checked sensors for $80.00.

Thats how I do it as well when I'm a little short....
:D
Sure am glad the Friday Night Fights are still on (the computer at least)... First round goes to Canon.
I think Nikon charges about $60.00 for sensor cleaning - not sure about disassembling and cleaning lenses.
Learn to clean the sensor yourself. Not that hard at all and will save big bucks - not to mention time,
A search would find this:

Nikon is like Timex. One of the few cameras and watches that can be cleaned on the top rack. Sorry Canon and Rolex guys and gals. HE HE

Bill MN is correct... Shame that Canon cameras are not that robust. Just spray a canon with water and it becomes an expensive paper weight. Ohhh wait, that's about the best use you could find for one even if it was not wet.
This is your brain... NIKON
This is your brain on drugs... CANON
I rest my case!
