The colour version is really a great photograph. The colour contrast between the greenery and the red glow of the lights in the tunnel is really nice. Contrast, sharpness and depth of field - just right. The composition is very well balanced. The only suggestion for improvement I would make is to crop the bottom slightly so that the green strips of grass run right into the bottom corners of the frame.

Gorgeous luxuriant colour, particularly the greens. A really well executed image. Crop the bit off the bottom as Don suggest and your done.

Thank you Don, I would not have thought of that

For the reasons Don gave, I do, just slightly prefer the colored version, but the B&W sure isn't just chopped liver!

I normally vote for B&W, but in this case the combination of greens and oranges is very pleasing. I really like the lines of the vines going up and over the tunnel.

Unfortunately, I disagree with those who advise you to crop off the bottom. The road leading into the tunnel sort of makes the image for me. If I were to take anything out (if it were mine), I'd probably try to carefully clone out the sign. The white of the sign sort of jars the visual concept.

Very interesting image! The combination of the natural setting and the almost surreal colors plus the tunnel shape really caught my eye. Normally love b/w, but the color version works for me.

I can almost smell the damp and the ivy. My only nit would be to take a step to the right to align the tunnel exit with the entrance. Manmade symmetry in the midst of nature's green chaos. Same as with your Yaquina pic. Really, really close... Some people probably wouldn't notice, but some of us are always slightly straightening pictures hanging on the wall...

I don't know -- I kinda like the lack of symmetry, reinforced by the crooked reduced speed sign. Shows humans faulty attempts at beauty in the midst of nature's skills.

Thanks for commenting, I think the small crop Don recommended did look good, it didn't crop out the road but just enough to start the 2 grass lines on either side. I debated about the sign, but decided it fit the scene in its own way, just a decrepit old sign. I was about 50-50 on it. Thanks again for the different perspective

Thanks for the comment. It is interesting, I lined up the center line and lights of the tunnel as well as I could, letting the road curve a bit, did not think of making the front and back symmetrical.

As I told azpiclady, I came close to deciding the sign should go. but it grew on me.

I drive through this tunnel almost every day! You did a fantastic job on it. I've been meaning to stop there and photography light trails from cars, but never seem to take the time to do it.

The more I look at it, the more I like it better than the real life version---if that's possible? Color is great, composition is great. I'm a big time B&W lover, but not in this case. The color version is definitely better for me. Nice job!! Now you've inspired me to capture one as well... since it's only down the street from me. :-)
