I got a new IMac yesterday from my son and he added Aperture on it. I subscribed to Creative Cloud and downloaded PS and LR. Along with those programmes came a lot of other programmes to try, some of which I never heard of. I installed all the ones that said "install" and not the ones that said"try"! Since I've never used a Mac before nor Creative Cloud I am really ignorant and have a lot of learning to do! Do I just keep Ps and LR on the Mac and ignore all the other downloads that came with CC? I also have LR 4 on my Vista. How can I put my edited photos onto LR on my iMac?

Those programs did not come with CC. If you bought the Photographers edition for 9.99 a month, you got PS and LR. Anything else you install will add to your bill.

BTW, don't bother with aperture, Apple is dropping support for it and are no longer developing it. LR is your best bet, no reason for both of them on your machine taking up space. Especially if this is your first encounter with Aperture.

The other programs are part of the full CC suite. Unless you know what they do, don't bother with them. For the $9.99 you only get LR, PS (CC2014), and Bridge. I had PS CS6 before I got CC and that shows up in the mix also (Also, PS CC shows up for me -- that's a CC version before CC2014).

If a program says "Try" it's not covered by the $9.99/month. If you install one of these programs you have a trial period. At the end of that period the program will quit working unless you spring for the installation key. Installing random programs will just fill your hard drive, so unless you know what it does, don't bother with it.

My CC dialog has a couple of things marked "Install" that I don't know much about. They appear to be utilities for web designers. I haven't bothered with them. There is one that appears to be something to do with touch screens. I wouldn't use a touch screen for photo editing, but others might have other opinions on that.

I believe that the CC Photography subscription includes Bridge along with Photoshop, Lightroom and several other utilities that can be installed thru the CC app. Not sure what they are all for as I only make use of Lightroom, Photoshop and Bridge myself.

1. Extension Manager
2. Edge Inspect
3. Edge Code Preview
4. Edge Reflow Preview
5. Exchange Panel
6. Extendscript Toolkit

Good thing you selected PS CC as Aperture is now defunct...

Other than that, folks gave you the right information on the program offered.

Good luck learning PS CC and be aware that not all edits made with LR will transfer over to PS CC (reverse is also true, I think).

For our edification, could you be more specific? I know that when you select "Edit In" in LR you are sometimes given the choice of (1) Edit a copy with LR edits; (2) Edit a copy (without LR edits); (3) Edit original.

So can you say which edits will not transfer? I haven't noticed any that don't, but then I'm not really familiar with the entire set of possible controls in LR. Or is it only (2) or (3) above? It would help to know what to watch out for.

that's not necessarily true.... the ones that have a "install" button are the ones that come with the 9.99 a month. like "bridge", you do not have to use it ,
its like light room but more for graphic designers

the ones that say "try" will cost additional money.

Thanks. I'll have to look it over more thoroughly, but it appears that the posters are using older versions of LR and/or ACR, although I think I saw a suggestion that one of the older LR process versions may be a problem here.

Still is accurate. There was a discussion over it a couple of months ago.

Bridge is also included for no extra charge.

Right. Uninstalling would be a smart move. CC will provide all you need for processing images.
