Don't ya just love those glad-I-had-my-camera moments ? !
These Gents were holding a ice rescue drill. I ran across them while walking my furry friend through Riverside Park.
A great opportunity for me to record one aspect of their readiness to protect us.
I salute them !
Chopping a hole in the pond.
Taking the plunge.
The rescue.
Mission accomplished !
Gaining experience.
Chilling out at the waters edge.
The warriors chariots.
Waiting for spring.
i knew there was a reason for not wanting be a fireman
Very Nice Work! Thank You for sharing. I enjoyed these.

The snow looks grey.
The camera's meter was fooled by the large expanse of white and tried (successfully) to turn it to middle-grey.
Very good pics and very informative.
rpavich - That AIN't snow. Don't know where you are 'in hiding' but up here we call that ICE.
Tinose - great sequence of photos. GRFD trains well, used to live there. Hope you catch some salmon jumping that dam come time. I lived there when they first brought them into the Grand.

You are right of course Rpavich,
I was watching the action and not the histogram. :D
Thanks for the reminder of the physics of reflective metering.

The salmon run is over for this year, but I still I spend an hour or two every day in Riverside Park, hiking the riverbank with my dog and my camera.

Thanks to all for taking the time to comment.
It was a fun shoot for me.
Don't leave your camera home,
serendipity happens.

I always have at least one camera with me so I won't miss much. Keep up the nice work.
Thanks for sharing! My Fire Dept. would do this training every year to help keep our skills sharp. It's a lot harder than it looks and that water is COLD even with the suit on.
Nice shots. You wouldn't catch me in the water though. My hat's off to the firemen!
