I've been here 13 days and my title still says "new user". So I thought I'd better introduce myself before I cease to become a new guy.
Farmer in Massachusetts. New career after retirement. Been into photography since the '40's one way or another (mostly another). Started with the family camera (a folding Kodak), got my own Brownie (about age 8 or 9), graduated to 35mm in the early '50's had a SLR in the mid '50's (Exakta VX) and a speed graphic. Had a photo developing business in high school and took the yearbook pictures.
After school, got into college, graduate school, and work so photography took a back seat, but during that time I acquired a Nikkormat SLR which I used occasionally for family stuff. Eventually went digital in 1999 with a P&S, then a DSLR, then another, along with a pile of lenses and a bad case of GAS. Except for a couple of the P&S cameras I've stuck with Nikon.
I've managed to control the GAS to some extent by spending a lot of money on gear to the point where I don't feel I need much any more. GAS is not eliminated, but it's manageable (for the most part). I have so much stuff I can't carry it all at once.
Now I'm having fun learning to use all the stuff along with the software and trying to keep up with new stuff. As a farmer I only have winters to do that since I'm flat out in the summer. So I do a lot of documentation on the farm and event photography around town and supply the local paper with a few shots occasionally.
And of course, 4927 pictures of my cat.
Welcome to the Hog, DirtFarmer. You'll find lots of friends & plenty of good advice here. Love the shot of your furry friend.
