lens comparrison

decided to compare 3 of my most used lenses,i would like your opinion of how they rate.
#1 sony 50mm f1.8 prime
#2 sony kit 18-70mm @50mm
#3 sony zeiss 16-80mm @50mm.
the camera is a sony a-550 14.2 mp,set at f8.0 and 800 iso.distance 51/2-7ft with built in flash.the background is a spread my wife made for me and the Dracula and Dragon daggers are from my collection.

50mm f1.8 prime
50mm f1.8 prime...

sony zeiss zoom

Just looking at the gold detail and I have to say I like the 50mm prime the best, and the kit lens the least.

looking at them again, i have to agree with you.i am going to run some more test to see if i can't get some better images from the zooms. thanks for your assesment.

i sharpened #2 and 3 in pacasa did it help?i think i have to pat more attention to focasing.

No comparison ... #1 has the sharpest most colorful results.

Shot at a good aperture you'd be hard pressed to do better than the "nifty fifty"

the 50mm prime wins with me ----detail on the handle of the knife is much better

I'm not sure that I would run a quality test at ISO 800! What kind of results would you get at ISO 100 with these same lenses?

I agree that the first looks a bit better but found the scrollling comparision difficult.

Looking at the guard on the horizontal knife the exposure of the first seems a little less than the other two. That could be partly why it looks better. Is there a way that might have happened with your setup; e.g. something changed with the flash?

I'd say the 50 did the best of the three.
