HDR Software Preferences

Hi all. I just joined this Forum after reading your posts for a couple of weeks.
I have been around photography for quite a while but have just recently gotten serious again.
HDR seems to be a great tool in the right circumstances so I have reviewed Photomatix Pro 5 and HDR Efex Pro. Both seem to be great (I don't use Photoshop, just Lightroom 5).
Do any of you recommend either of the 2 pieces of software mentioned over the other? If so why?

I used to use Photomatix, actually it's still on my computer, but I have not used it in years, because I prefer using Photoshop, but it is a good program!

Thanks. I saw a video by Tim Grey of HDR Efects and was very impressed.
Here's a recent photo. I tried uploading a couple but must have done something wrong. So maybe this will show up twice! It's a large file so may have a hard time uploading.

I use both, as well as LR Enfuse (HDR plugin for Lightroom), Oloneo, SNS HDR Pro - each one is different in how they handle the tone mapping/fusion - my least favorite for HDR remains Photoshop.

Seriously though - the folks here have lots of good advice and a couple of days of experience and are willing share what they can - don't hesitate to ask detailed questions, in fact, the more details, the more accurate the answer ;)

I prefer photomatix. One of the things that I like about it is the ability to fine tune a single photo. It is very good at removing noise and chromatic aborartions with it and photoshop elements I can do everything I need at reasonable costs.

Thanks for all your input. Sounds like I can't go wrong with either product. Hope to learn from you guys about all aspects of photography. We can never know too much, can we?

I too make use of Photo-matix and like you I have not given HDR-Effects a try = but I have not made use of it either. I have tried the Photoshop HDR thing in CS-5 however did not like it.
Yes.... Great "stuff" from the NIK Software folks.

I use NIK software Google bought the company and has reduced the price several hundred dollars. It works fine and fast and is easy to use

Photoshop is the best tool for HDR, because you can manually blend exposures with it.
