Just getting started with new D7100 and bought this lense new. Used it to test out 1-2 fotos. Anyway, simply not needed as I have two zooms to cover. Paid $500 on eBay - would take $400 . Perfect condition! Tom 603-682-1014 / twd1979@comcast.net

You might want to reconsider. This a very fine lens. Your zooms will never have the acuity this lens has. I often consider welding mine onto my D800. On your DX this lens is probably in the 120mm range (somebody here will know the exact apparent length) thus making it an excellent location portrait or figure study piece of glass. The only reason I would sell mine is if I could ever afford the slightly better, for bokeh, f1.4 but at three times the price....
Just a thought..but if you do sell it your buyer is getting a deal indeed....

I have one of these and it is absolutely my favorite lens. I have 2 other Nikon primes and a couple 2.8 Nikon zooms but none of them produce images that are as consistently sharp and with the 'pop' this 85 produces. It's an awesome piece of glass!

I have to agree with the other members. You may want to hang on to this lens as it is capable of realizing the full resolution capabilities of your D7100.....just sayin' :wink:
