I just got a second battery for my D7000, and I see it's made by Sony. The original battery has "Nikon" written on the back, where the new one has "Sony." All the specs are the same: 7.0v and 1.90 Ah. My D70 batteries are 7.4v and 1.50Ah, and 7.2v and 1.60 Ah.
Sony is a good, respectable company, I wouldn't worry about it. Besides, the sensor in your D7000 is made by Sony :)

I'm not worried. I know Sony makes batteries and sensors for other companies.
These batteries usually last me 5 hours of full use and with the hand grip that has 2 batteries in it I get roughly 10 hours of use (mind you I have all Sony cameras). What I don't like about the batteries (which are true for all these Lithium batteries) is that even when the camera is not in use they lose 2% of their charge per day.

Is this a drain by the camera or battery losing its charge.
In other words does this happen if the battery is not in the camera??

I would guess that is with the battery IN the camera. I just checked something. My A300 battery in the camera was down to 83%. Haven't used the camera for some days. I just replaced the battery with a spare I had (Fully charged when stored) and the indication was showing 100%. So the charged battery which was stored did not seem to have lost power.
