I need some advice. I have Sony A700 and A350. I want to purchase a lens for macro photography. Any advice as to the best choice for mm size and f/stop? Thanks for your help.

What do you plan to shoot? The longer the lens (200mm, 105mm) the farther away you can be from your subject. The smaller lenses (90mm, 60mm) you will have to be pretty close. So bugs, butterflies and whole flowers the long ones. For slow bugs, spiders, things that don't move fast, coins) The smaller lenses.

Be sure to check out the FAQs for macro related stuff

There is a lot of good stuff there and it doesn't apply to just one brand.

I always recommend that a photographer first investigate macro lenses made for their camera bodies. In your case, that would be the Sony 100-mm f/2.8 Macro Lens, designed for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Cameras. WD for 1:1 mag (life-size) will be 150-mm (5.9-inches).

Second choice, investigate secondary lens manufacturers, such as Tamron or Sigma, of which I cannot make a recommendation.

I've yet to use any macro lens that didn't deliver. Proper technique is vital for good macro shooting...What's your budget & what do you intend to shoot ?
