I could not help but stop and take this photo of an old York County,Pa school. , She called out to me as I passed by ,for one last photo of this ,ghostly image of a One room schoolhouse abandoned in the woods, full of growing vines and slowly vanishing into obscurity , being reclaimed by neglect, how many Happy Days and fond memories of cheerful children playing outside, teachers who taught there, and the wonderful days of those happy students who attended a one room schoolhouse!

Nice. If only those walls could talk! Just think of how things have changed in not so long a time period. From the gathering of children learning in a setting like this to mass murder like in Sandy Hook, to teachers having sex with 14 and 15 year olds. Makes me glad I won't be here in the next century to see where this is all headed!

I love pictures of those kinds of old buildings - both seeing pictures taken by others or taking them myself as often as I can. It tugs at my heartstrings that old buildings like that have to be left to decay and fall down on their own.

We have been living in SC since retirement. I just love getting out on the lonely roads that once were the main routes before the days of interstate highways, and look for old structures like that - be it old homes, old schools, or small businesses, etc. As others have related in this post, "Oh, if walls could talk . . . "
