as a competent photographer back in the sixties and seventies but new to the present digital world, I need help in selecting lens for the 750. At present, I have a 5200 and the 750. I do have sufficent lens for the 5200 but all are DX and while they do work with the 750, they don't give the full screen I want. Once I have the best overall lens, I might be able to figure what other lens I might need.

There are 4 I would choose from if it were me. The 24-70 f2.8; the 24-85 f2.8 or f4; the 24-120 f4. I think for me the 24-85 f4 would be 1st.

I have the 28-300 3.5-5.6 for my 610 - my walk around, every day lens -

Would you describe the advantage of each, please. I need the most help in resolving which one is probably the best for me. If I could afford it I'd buy all three! Thanks much for your help.

For me the choice is because I tend to take most of my pictures in the 18- to 55mm range with my D7100 and the 24-85 would let me get the same field of view with the full frame camera.

I have the 24-85 on my D610 and it IS my everyday walk-around lens. It is quite crisp and won't bankrupt you either.

Sounds like my lens. So the 24-85 it is. Thanks a bunch. And then some.

What type of shooting do you do? This should narrow down your options...

If you want to save a few dollars, look at the classified section for equipment - it is generally in top condition...

IMO, it's better to buy used and find out you don't like it than spend the higher amount...

noone recommends that sigma 24-105mm ART DG OS?
dxomark says its sharper than Nikon's kit one with less issues.

Depends on the things you like to shoot, and does size/weight matter.

If I had that camera body, I'd likely own the 16-35 f4 for landscape work.

The 28-300 pretty much covers the range and if I could only have one lens on my D610 it would be my choice. ;)

I've been shooting with the Nikkor 24-85mmVRg, f3.5-4.5 lens since it's first release which was on my original D600. I bought mine on the release day and have been using it since. It now resides on my D610. The lens is crystal all the way across at all focal lengths.
Tamalero, you shouldn't repeat "some peoples" bull$hit unless you have proof. It makes "you" look like an a$$ as are the uninformed "some people" who spewed that crap.

I'm not talking about the 24-85, I'm talking about the 750Kit (the 24-120 F4 one)

the DXO reviews are there.
