When you download someone's posted photo. How do you find out all the settings etc. thanks

In Windows, right-click the image and choose properties, then details.
Not all have the data, however. In some editors you can choose to erase it before posting to public sites.

I would imagine you would have to ask the poster..perhaps a private message if you are too shy to ask openly on forum.

There are apps for that. I have one - probably from Google, but I seldom use it. I've found that many images have no meta data included with them.

Jeffrey's EXIF viewer, http://regex.info/exif.cgi/exif.cgi
This will even read the EXIF data from the online link: you don't have to download the image.
As mentioned, some online photos don't have EXIF data, so you're out of luck there. But if they have it, there's a lot of it and the JEV will show it all, which means you might have to look through a lot of stuff to find what you want.
