DMC-G6 camera combined with 10 & 16mm extension tubes coupled with 45-200 mm panasonic lens yields some pretty interesting close ups. The spider was so small I could barely see it with the naked eye. Posting 3 images; please try the downloads.

The grasshopper is the pick of the bunch, Jim, & is a good pic. The other two are a tad soft. Extension rings limit the in focus working distance, Could it be that you were at the limit of your focus distance? Did you use a tripod? (With your set up, the Dof would be quite small & the slightest camera movement will affect your focus). Earl. :-) :-)

You are spot on Earl, I was mostly at the limit of focus distance, was not using a tripod and the wind was blowing pretty hard. Those are not excuses just fact. The grasshopper was sitting on the ground and therefore wind was not a problem. I had the anti shake/vibration mode set to on, but the lens is a tad bulky and I'm sure my shake could add to that softness. Thanks for taking the time to view and the analysis of the shots. :-D

So glad you enjoyed them Greg; I'm still trying to get complete mastery over using them in conjunction with the various lenses and it is a fun challenge to say the least. I really appreciate your visit and nice comment. Thanks my friend. :-D

You love a challenge...don't you? I'm amazed that you could do this well without a tripod!

I really do Bob, and most of this right now is experimentation to see what the equipment will let me get away with. As I learn more about combining these tubes and using them with different lenses I will eventually move to a more standard approach with tripod etc. Really appreciate your visit and nice comment. :-D

Wow, Jim! That grasshopper is a winner, and even though the third one lacks the sharpness of the hopper, I'm still rather drawn to it. It's simply a pretty picture IMO.

Thanks Dixie, this particular op was a real challenge, the wind was blowing pretty hard and I was having real trouble maintaining focus. I did much better today which was a little calmer. I also changed up the equipment a bit and used only 1 extension tube and a different lens. I posted that one today. Thanks so much for stopping by and for the nice comment. :-D
