OK - had to join in the fun. This is a sunset shot of mine worked over in Topaz Glow.

There is so much control over the effects that you can make unlimited interpretations of the original. And when you're finished in Glow, you can give it some final touches in the original editor (this one was done via Lightroom).

Love the first shot but the Glow edit is, well, you know, just maybe a little, -----I'm trying to be polite!

OK, next time I'll try something a little more restrained. This was just me playing with a new toy and coming up with something a bit on the vivid side. I think Glow will work well with shots what have whispey stuff in them like whispey clouds or branches or foliage.

I love the purples and orange/yellows, maybe as an overall fabric pattern for a sundress....
For a photo, not so much. Guess I'm too much of a purist.
I have also wondered how long these novelties will be used by those that buy them, certainly you wouldn't apply this to all your photos?
It actually is quite stunning what software can do for some photos. There was a picture of a rose in another thread, that as artwork, I really liked. For some photos this technique really seems to work, for many others: Not.

Nope, just playing. You're right, other posts have been good enough to be considered as works of art. I didn't have any such aspirations for this edit. In fact this is the complete opposite of how I usually edit, preferring a very moderate style.

Playing is good! It helps to shed the drudgery of the day.
But for me, mostly, it is the way I learned a lot about my cameras and about how software works.
Winter's night, couch, cup of hot chocolate, camera, manual, laptop.... I'll be a happy camper the rest of the evening :^)

One of the best ways to learn IMHO. Drudgery tends to not fire the imagination. Next time I try Glow, I'll try a totally different approach, probably involving a shot with lots of whispy stuff in it so that it'll have those soft feathery energy lines as a prominent feature.
