This pair live at the Lower Klamath Refuge in Northern California. My understanding is that they have been here for several years. The nest is about 50 yards from a road. There is a canal between the road and the nest. Access to the area is normally shut off to the area early in the spring and kept closed until summer to provide isolation for the birds. These photo's were taken Feb. 19, 2012.
Nice pictures but not for this forum, photo analysis. Please read the forum rules and purpose as defined by the admin:
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-19061-1.html You might ant to adjust the mid tones in picture #3 to eliminate the haze. It is over processed. (halo around the eagle, especially visible when contrasted with the sky).
Why is there so much noise in the sky in picture #1?

I think I over processed in PP. I think that I need to back off on the sliders. Thanks for the advice.

Use two things: Levels and then Tone curves, you need very little else.
If the images are not sharp enough (looks like you sharpened them), instead of going crazy with the sharpening tool, reduce the size progressively and sharpen a midge with each step down.
I think the photos are ok, except for #3-it's not too clear. You wanted to post nesting Eagles and thats what you did. I would like to be able to see better what kind of bird it was feeding on.

Thank you for the reply. I'm not sure what the duck was. It was in a shaded area. Will try to work on that area more. I have it in several other photo's. Won't be much of a photo but maybe I can ID it better. I have several different Eagles consuming birds and in most cases its hard tell what they are.
The third shot looks like you did some severe cropping and then over processed (particular in sharpening).
I'd be happy with the first two and hope to get closer to the bird on another day. Over cropping and over processing make the photo look fake and fewer people will find it acceptable.
Since you found the nest---keepg oing back, and back, and back. with lick---good photo opts will happen.

It's not a duck because it doesn't have webbed feet.

I guess that I don't really know what it was. I have some other photo's but they show even less detail then the photo I posted.
