those are all very clear and defined. How do you like the sony? I'm thinking of going to the A55 or the A77. Do you find their new view finder helpful?

I am really liking the Sony. I think that the view finder is really nice how it switches automatically when you move it to your eye. I have not done so yet, but I think you can keep it on either the viewfinder or LCD as well where it won't switch which would come in handy when you only want to use only the LCD since it can be a little sensitive and if you are lying on the ground with the camera and can't use the viewfinder but accidentally put something in front of it, like the strap for instance then your LCD will go black. I upgraded from a point and shoot so the Sony to me is really wonderful! I would probably go with the A77 if you can afford too because it is really nice, my husband and I are thinking to eventually get the A77 as our second camera. I think my only problem with the A55 is that I still have a lot to learn about it, & when I took my son's 1 month pictures the other day, I was disappointed with how many blurry photos I got. I told my husband that I felt like I shouldn't be getting blurry pictures and that I think I am expecting the camera to just do the work for me since the quality is much better than our previous camera. Other than my needing to learn more, the A55 is great!

I believe one of things the new type view finder does is show you how different your picture would actually look if you adjust the white balance - exposure compensation or make any other adjustments. Have you experimented with that yet? That's one of the things that intrigues me the most about this camera and the A77. BTW - nice pics of your 1 month old. They are definitely one of lifes precious gifts.

I have not experimented with it yet. I have taken RAW files (not sure if this is what you are talking about) & when editing them you can change settings such as white balance, and whether it is portrait, vivid, black and white, etc. and much more. It is okay, though the pictures I have taken with it have not made much of a difference as my settings were all set correctly. Thanks about my son! They are definitely blessings!

I wasn't refering to RAW files. When you look thru the EVF and then make a change in something like white balance, exposure compensation, ISO etc, etc. you would actually see how that change effects your final pic when you look thru the EVF. Make sense?

I didn't know that. I have not noticed that, or maybe I am just not completely understanding. Sorry. :( Guess I'm not much help.
