Hope you enjoy these. This was from the walk I posted the other day. Just out with the dog watching the birds and salmon in the river.

Downloading is an absolute must. These photos explode when downloaded--absolutely awesome. The lighting, color, & fine detail are spot on--great stuff.

Thanks, Earl. Of course gulls are very difficult subjects, but I enjoy this time of the year when they come for the salmon in the river. There is often arguments between individuals that I like to capture. I'll post some of those if I get some decent shots this year.

We now have a storm hitting us here in CA. I won't be out shooting for the next couple of days at least. I guess I'll be in front of the computer doing my editing.

Thanks Bob. This part of the river has difficult lighting, but it is the most active for the gulls. The dying salmon are trapped in the shallows, but the sun is always behind the subjects or off to one side at best, but it provides interesting light when caught right.

wonderful shots,David. the light on the gulls really makes them stand out and beautiful; may make one envious for gulls even tho' usually they are just annoying bullies.

I agree with Earl on the downloads. These should be featured in a wildlife publication. Really beautiful, David.

Earl,
Here is an example of one of the arguments when they are fighting over the dead carcasses. You can see the dead salmon in the background.

I agree with you carlysue. The only thing I wish is that we still had the salmon runs in the Spring as well as the Fall. It would be better if I had more light later in the day.

Thank you Donna. Don't have the connections to get many of the images I take published. Have to know someone to get anywhere in this business. I enjoy sharing as well as the capturing anyway.

Here's another from the same batch.

Agree about the connections. That does seem to be the case unfortunately. Really enjoying all of these and especially the two squabbling over the salmon.
