The beautiful Black Locust Tree

This native tree gets little publicity, but to my way of viewing, it is one of our prettiest blossoming trees. The draping clusters of individual flowers are of pure white with touches of green and yellow. The closer you get, the prettier the blooms become. They are about the size and shape of Wisteria vine blooms.

Bob, these are glorious images! I'm not familiar with this tree and would have thought the blooms were those of a white wisteria had you not identified it. Just stunning...

This tree is native from Pennsylvania to northern Georgia but it has been grown all the way into your area. It is sometimes called False Acacia. As showy as this tree is when in bloom, the flowers are somewhat short-lived so they are often overlooked.

As always, thanks for the visit and your comments!

Bob, thanks for the information. I'm going to check and see if our local botanical gardens offer those in their spring sale.
