The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson , died and went to heaven.

At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur. 'Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want to in heaven.'

Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, ' I want to hang out with God.'

St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room, and introduced him to God..

God recognized Arthur and commented, 'Okay, so you were the one who invented the Harley-Davidson motorcycle? '

Arthur said, 'Yeah, that's me...'

God commented: 'Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty unstable, makes noise and pollution and can't run without a road?'

Arthur was a bit embarrassed, but finally spoke, 'Excuse me, but aren't you the inventor of woman?'

God said, 'Ah, yes.'

'Well,' said Arthur, 'professional to professional, you have some major design flaws in your invention !
1. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end suspension

2. It chatters constantly at high speeds

3. Most rear ends are too soft and wobble about too much

4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust

5. The maintenance costs are outrageous!!!!

'Hmmmmm, you may have some good points there,' replied God, 'hold on.'

God went to his Celestial supercomputer, typed in a few words and waited for the results.

The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.

'Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed,' God said to Arthur, 'but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours'

God has a point, I have ridden more women than I have
ridden Harleys, not even a close race.

I can honestly say I have ridden my share of both! I still have my second Harley a 1970 FLH purchased in 1976. Ride her often. Went through many women including a wife during all this time! The oldest model Harley I have ridden is a 1911, the oldest model woman, like me a 1954 model! :)

I can attest to that part about being loud and noisy. There is no noise ordinance in this town according to our local sheriff. You can hear the Harleys coming from half a mile away and still hear them for another mile after they pass. I think the Harley riders like them loud to compensate for all their deficiencies. Think I'll stick with my Hondas.

I'm with you on the noise that is what is nice about winter I don't have to listen to those horrible sounding Harleys.

They are slower than hell so they try to compensate with noise.
The police in Indiana totally ignore them but if you have a loud car they will arrest you in a heartbeat.

"Loud pipes save lives." Whoever came up with that excuse for noise was very clever. The noise is irrelevant to safety. If those guys care about safety, why don't they wear real helmets and colors other than black?

They don't need a helmet they know what their head is worth.

I wonder if there isn't a great deal of stereotyping here about Harley motorcycles. I have had 4 of them and not one of them ever gave me a moment of mechanical problem and not one of them was overly loud. As for helmets, I have never ridden a motorcycle without wearing a helmet for protection. I do wear a black leather jacket and chaps for safety because I wouldn't look good in pink or yellow leather clothing.

I do agree with Jerry about loud pipes not really saving lives but many other riders of motorcycles other than Harley Davidson also do not necessarily wear helmets nor do they wear appropriate clothing for safety. Where I presently live in Southern California the normal attire for motorcycle riding is a T shirt, shorts and flip flops. Not very safe in my opinion. I have to admit to never seeing that attire on a Harley though. Mostly on Hondas and lesser motorcycles.

So please keep on stereotyping motorcycle riders into groups, thinking Harley=Bad, Honda and others=Good. You look like idiots when you do that but it doesn't bother me. It only reflects on you.

This is interesting comment.
Mostly on Hondas and lesser motorcycles.

Apparently you don't know much about motorcycles.
If it don't bother you why did you make this dumb comment.

I've seen lots of quiet Harleys because their owners didn't spend a fortune to make them loud. Occasionally, I see a Harley rider with a full face helmet, and it looks out of place. Many of them wear what are called "Novelty Helmets," which offer no protection at all. You can even buy stickers that say they are approved helmets.

I could never understand riding while wearing beach clothing. One tumble on the pavement, and they'll be in the hospital for weeks getting their skin repaired. That seems to be the thing to do among sport bike riders.

You are correct. I have ridden many of them of different makes since the mid 60's but don't know as much as I would like to know.

I guess the dumb comment is only in the eyes of a person looking for dumb comments. You want really dumb comments, look at your previous comments. Now those are really dumb compared to mine. Maybe if you had really read my post you would see I don't like stereotyping anything or anybody. You all made dumb comments about Harley riders and Harleys in general. I don't see the point and think those comments are dumb especially when I pointed out people on Hondas and lesser bikes who do things just as dumb such as riding without helmets, wearing inappropriate clothing etc.

Apparently only you fail to see my point. All motorcycles are probably pretty good and are quality made. We all have choices on which to spend our money. I have spent it on Honda, Kawasaki and lately on Harley Davidson. Not all bad or unsafe riders ride Harleys.

Have a great day,

Dennis

What is the difference between a Harley and a Hoover sweeper.
It is the location of the dirt bag.

Now there is another point on which we will differ. You resort to making insulting remarks and calling names. I have not and will not do that as most people on this forum will tell you. I keep my comments respectful because insulting comments reflect badly not on me but on you.

Again, have a nice day. I sure hope it improves for you,

Dennis
