A few days ago I purchased a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HMS lens from B & H that is mounted to a Nikon D7100. It is replacing the kit 18-55 f3.5-5.6. First impressions are wow! This lens is really living up to the reviews I researched before making this purchase. Sadly I don't have any images worth sharing as I am recovering from foot surgery and will have my other foot surgery on Dec 19. Just shooting inside the house testing different settings. Once I'm up and about I will get outside and get some images to post.8-)

Hey, this combo is my every day 'work horse'. The D7100/Sigma 17-50 combo is like a marriage made in Heaven. Virtually all of my landscape/seascape/boat pictures that I post here are with this set up. It is sharp throughout its zoom & aperture range. It is outstandingly sharp at 50mm. You will love it. Earl.

My D7100 and Sigma 17-50 are my walk around/grandchild/family get-together combo. Always great photos.

Thanks for the replies and best wishes for the upcoming surgery. I plan on taking this combination along with a telephoto up to Alaska in the late spring of 2015. 8-)

Wonderful range. I choose the Tokina 2.8 and stays on my wife's camera all the time. Let her "borrow" it and it never found it's way back to my bag. Great time to be in photography, quality, choices, availability and competitive pricing. Enjoy the lens and the photos.

Tokina indeed makes some great lenses. If I handed my wife the camera without the lens I doubt she would even know. Photography to her is push one button & done. 8-)
