With 67" you wouldn't think so, but we've hardly had any in the past 2 months.

Rabbott, you opened a new thought world for me. Great thought provoking photos indeed and special thanks to Mushroom #1 for the beautiful eye candy color --- but why?? What evolutionary benefit does the color give them? What do they look like in UV light?

Googled a little, came across video of aquatic mushrooms eating. I had no thought that there were aquatic mushrooms!

In my area of Florida the Fungi are prevalent between toes, but rarely do I see them bloom in nature. This spring there was a bloom outside my door of three like photo #2. I photographed them from many angles. The life time was brief, the next morning they were withered with out form.

Thank you Rabbott for sharing.

Thank you for the comments. It really is fun,, tracking themdown, then photographing them. If you look in a past posting in the close up section, you will see some brilliant red ones.

Great read at:

I recall a photo of a foot with mushrooms stuck between the toes standing up as tho growing there!! Humorous shot.

It is rare we think of mushrooms as any thing but a pseudo vegetable in our market's food section. Personally, I fear them patiently lurking under the surface waiting for the extraordinary rains of Climate Change!!

In the movie the Illustrated Man there is one of the trilogy dealing with a planet that has perpetual rain... mushrooms grow fast and every where.... in the one cited here it is vines... Do watch the the movie "illustrated man" with Rod Steiger... the "long rain" part of the movie... mushrooms... fungi win!! That is what Ray Bradbury predicted!!
