Thank you Don. Oh yes, the story.... As a photographer I went thru several periods when I would concentrate on a certain subject.I had a mushroom period, birds in flight period etc. When I took these eagle portraits I was not after eagles but after gulls in flight with an unusual position of wings. In the harbor I would throw pieces of stale bread, then grab a camera and try to catch gulls on wing in odd positions.Maybe you saw some of the photos in my old topics. It was a beautiful but cold day with snow on the ground. Gulls of course make a lot of noise and suddenly several Bald eagles appeared out of nowhere to see what was going on.They were not interested in stale bread but they were hanging around to see if I had something more up their alley. This one was sitting on a pile of dirt and the cold made him to ruffle his head feathers. So I decided gulls would have to wait and went for this eagle. A distant island provided the dark background. Ivan.

As usual really nice Alaskan. The first portrait looks like our ex Pres. Andrew Jackson aka old hickory.

All of your work is simply incredible. The sharpness of the eagles and feathers is awesome. I have also seen the mushrooms so whatever period you are in you have photographic excellence to bring to the table. I cannot help but ask about the camera and lens you use because of the fantastic sharpness of the images and how the light just seems to be perfection in your shots
