I have been a member of the PHOTO GALLERY for quite a while now and at the suggestion of another member, I checked out the CLOSE UP PHOTOGRAPHY topic. It seems to be suited quite well to what I shoot about 90% of the time. I am an 80+ year old great grandfather and enjoy photography very much. I mainly use Canon equipment and my usual subjects are "nature's own", birds, insects, flowers, butterflies, etc. I am attaching a few of my shots that illustrate my typical choice of subjects. I hope that this topic on this site will result in a mutual fit.

Thanks for visiting and for the remark! I leave the long walks to the lighthouses and the endless steps to the top to you younger folks! Good to hear from you!

My Blue Jays are a somber group...they are always in a snit or on the attack! Sure are pretty birds, though!

Thanks for the visit!

The pear blossoms are really nice. I especially like the control of exposure on the white petals. The blue background is really nice as well. I think this is a very good set.

Like Donna said, Bob--these are stunning. The fine detail just jumps out at one, as do the gorgeous colors. I note your large Dof. Was it just a very small aperture, or a little focus stacking? I love your style, Bob. The subject matter is tack sharp, with the background obscure & nonintrusive. Welcome to the Close up Forum.

Thanks so much, Bob, but I've never seen anything you've ever posted that deserved any criticism.

I appreciate your kind remarks! The aperture settings were: Asian Pear-f/7.1, Blue Jay-f/7.1, Bee Fly-f/5.6, Bouquet-f/4.5, Clouded Sulphur-f/13, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail-f/8. The Blue Jay was shot with a 400mm prime lens mounted on the Canon 70D body....all the others were shot using the 40D and the 100mm f/2.8 micro lens. Both of these lenses produce an excellent bokeh. As for stacking, I am so technically inept that I wouldn't have a prayer of achieving the process!

Thanks again for your welcome and for the thumbsup!

Bob
