Most of the time I only get the chance to photograph these birds as they are fishing so I end up with the harsh glare of the water to contend with or while they are wet and glistening. I was so happy to see this one in the perfect spot and light and dry dry as a bone.
Unfortunately I was not fast enough and the bird moved right as I was taking the photo so I ended up cutting off the end of his beak. (Anybody else seem to have that problem?) But I really liked the soft look of the feathers so I cropped the life out of this and decided to center in on his eye.
C&C always welcomed.

Fantastic close-up, but I would like to see the eye off-centered (rule-of-thirds).

Gorgeous shot! Quite stunning.

I agree with Phil's suggestion on moving the eye off-center. If you have more of the bird on the left side, maybe leave that in? There are a couple of other possibilities, depending on what you have in your original capture.

Thank you so very much Miss Linda for commenting and your suggestions for this photo. So that is two for moving the eye more off center.
I will have to see what I can do about that.
