Ok, all you wild hogs! I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death. But I'm back on the Hedge after being gone a coulple of years so I'm trying to catch up. Want to replace my home printer. Emphasis on quality photos. Thinking about doing some portrait work and want to give customers the option of seeing work quickly. B&H has some Canon models on sale. Can I get a nice one for $100 to $200 range? Any reccomendations would be great. Thanks!

It would be hard to get quality photos, especially portrait work, on a printer costing $100 to $200. Save up your money and get a top quality printer. Epson and Canon both have excellent printers for what you want. The best ones have 12 cartridges and will give quality photos, as compared to most printers that have only 6 cartridges.
You get what you pay for.
The current photo printer market offers only 6 choices that make sense.
Two use dye ink and are the cheapest. They are the Canon Pro-100 and the Epson 1430.
For pigment based inks, the choices are the Canon Pro-10, Canon Pro-1, Epson R2000 and Epson R3000.
A 7th choice might be the Epson 3880 if you want even larger prints.
I've not read a single post about ANY of these where the owner was unhappy.
I bought the Canon Pro-100 from B&H because the net price after a rebate was the lowest. I think the current deal is you get the printer, ink, 50 sheets of large paper and $250 rebate card. That makes the net cost of the printer itself about $50.
Check out Dye-Sub Printers They are fast and the prints are waterproof an tear resitant Been using them for 8 years.
I print 50 to 100 prints a week.

Thanks people!
HI! I am a Canon guy. Always have been and have been fortunate to own well-made, very satisfactory products. I just purchased a Pixma Pro-100 inkjet printer on eBay. Canon offered this printer with an inticingly good rebate w/in the past couple of years. Customers would buy a camera and printer combo, cut out the UPC on the printer carton, and then sell the printer. I am VERY satisfied with it. Prints up to 13x19 gallery quality prints. I won my with a $132.00 bid plus shipping. I couldn't be happier w/ the purchase!
