I was playing around with focus stacking and thought I would share a stack of six photos of one flower in a bouquet of flowers my wife received.

Beautiful flower! Please explain focus stacking, why you used it, and can we see the original to see the difference? Thanks very much. I am learning.

Focus stacking involves taking a series of shots of an object with varied focus planes, so that all parts of the images are in sharp focus. Then they are "stacked" with software, which takes the precise focus point of each image and combines all the focus points so that the entire image is razor sharp. Suggest googling it if you want to try it. Many video tutorials.

Thank you. Greymule did a great job of explaining it and his suggestion to google it is a good one. Your camera can't get sharp focus on all points of a flower or other object at the same time, so I took 6 pictures of the flower with different focus on each without moving my camera. I then put those 6 photos into the program Helicon Focus and it blended them into one. It's not for everyone but I enjoy it.
