Looking for USER feed back on results with this piece. In particular impact on sharpness and color, CA or fringing or distortion. In Particular on Nikon 70-200, 2.8 or Sigma 120-300 2.8,

I have two Nikon 2x converters. I have used them ever since I went into digital about 10 years ago. The first lenses I bought was a 70x200 and a 2X converter. I still use that combo now. No one could tell I had a 2X converter. The ONLY time I remove it is if I am too close, example for a few landscape shots. I also have one permanently on a Nikon 105 macro lens. I never take it off. I do not own a 1.7 but I do use a 1.4 on a 200x400 with mixed results.
In conclusion I would say" if using Nikon converters on a fast Nikon lens there is no problem at all". You do lose one or two F-stops, but with fast lenses that seldom comes into play with the exception being low light conditions.

I just got a Nikon 70-200 2.8 last week and already had the 1.7 TC. Crappy weather here since then and the only samples I have I refuse to post. :)

Far as I can tell so far, the TC quality is excellent, sharp and looks to be distortion free. Wide open in piss poor light there is noticeable axial CA but easily corrected by ViewNX2.

EDIT: BTW, you've been here long enough that I shouldn't have to mention it, but I got the 1.7 TC from KEH for $200 off the $500 list price and can't tell it from new.

I use the Nikon TC-17E II regularly on my Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 and it works great, the only other lens I use it on is my Nikon 600mm F4 VR II, and its a match made in heaven!

I use it on my 70-200 VR 11 and it works great. I have even shot hockey thru the plexi with it on the 70 to 2 using my D4 and some photos ended up in publications. Awesome converter.
