Dropped my 50mm 1.4G on a tile floor. The Auto Focus is not working. What a sick feeling.

Look on the bright side - it wasn't a 58mm f/1.4!

True. That would be far worse.
On the brighter side, maybe a 58mm 1.4 would be a suitable replacement.

About 4 months ago i had my Nikon 80-400mm fall on a throw rug over a tile floor.
$625.00 later Nikon service had it repaired.
After that i took a rider insurance policy on all my good cameras & lenses. Nuff said. Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Do you have your stuff insured with a home-owners rider? I hope.

I dropped that same lens (Nikon) on a tile floor a few weeks ago. I shipped it back to the manufacturer and they repaired it as good as new. $189 ouch, but still cheaper than buying another lens.

Great positive attitude to look at it as an opportunity to buy another lens. Dropped my 70-200 2.8 and picked up a little 200 2.0 as a result!
