The iconic Laughing Kookaburra is a large member of the Kingfisher family & is well known for his raucous laughter at sunup & sundown. This guy landed on my rotary clothes line & I zotted him with two quick shots. Notice the different Dof with the two cameras. The group scenes (Ibises, Spoonbills, Purple Marsh Hens, & a lone Egret) were shot with my D7100/Sigma 120-400mm @ 400mm, using a 2X tele-converter. They were long shots & are heavily cropped. Please download for a better view.
This is the little cutie whose song cracks me up. LOL
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc_-icFHwQoAll are interesting and pretty shots, Earl, but the first one with your SX50 is by far the best. Love it! I was surprised that the Kookaburra comes into your yard. It must be because of your close proximity to the river.

I have never seen a Kookaburra, and only know it from a silly song they used to play on Barney... the purple dinosaur that my daughter was addicted to watching many, many, many years ago!!
Nice shots Earl and glad I got to see one!
