For those of you who have used or are using a Pentax K-50, what is your experience using it? Are you happy with the photos you get? How does it compare with other cameras you've used?

I have not used the K-50 but own and use the K-m,K-x.K-5 and K-3 the K-50 uses the same sensor as my K-5 in the price range it has some features that no other company has it is weather sealed has a 100% coverage viewfinder and 2 control wheels and image stabilization. Image quality is on par with the K-5 and the D7000. Pentax makes great products

Parker,
I am new to not only Pentax but to the DSLR world as well. My wife just got me the K-50 as an early Christmas present and I am excited to have it. My understanding is that the Pentax lineup of DSLR's, or at least many of them, are excellent cameras and the lenses are pretty decent, too. Do you have any experience with Pentax?

I agree with your assessment completely, The K-50 is a great camera with all its features. I recently bought one, mid Nov. 2014 and I have a nik. d7100 and a NIk. d-40 also. I shoot in raw with all the cameras and I have less post processing in the Pentax K-50!! People would do well to look at Pentax when choosing dx cameras!

I'm a user of the Pentax K3, K5, K01, with a number of Pentax lenses. Every time I open my daily link from UHH (such as today), I see at least one (and often multiple) posts from someone asking" "which is better, Canon or Nikon?" This kind of post is by far the most question asked by members seeking advice when trying to figure out how to spend their money on a new camera. Yet, the answers seem to be the same most of the time. Some are surprised that there are other brands. I've been a Pentax user for a few decades, going back to the K1000. I suggest that you take a tour through the Pentax Forums web site, read a few comparative reviews, and check out the "black Friday" deals going on. You can also read through some of the customer reviews for any Pentax DSLR on Amazon where I saw a few K5 and K3 reviewers claiming their Pentax was superior to equivalently priced Canons and Nikons. On the K50: today's price with a few good lenses at Costco is the best in the market - yes, that includes the Nikons and Canon is its price range!

Ditto and there are tons of legacy lens being used with great success. At pentaxforums.com check out the reviews and various lens clubs. I just added a K5lls.

Many thanks to all of you who responded. I've done more checking on the Pentax lineup of cameras offered over the years and it seems rather puzzling why more photographers seem to blindly "go with the flow" with Nikon or Canon, good as they may be, instead of seriously considering Pentax. It's kind of nice to see that there's more people like me who aren't afraid to "go rogue" or "buck the system" when it comes to selecting a camera, whether for pleasure or profession.

Pentax has seen its following grow during the past few years. This may not be apparent while reading postings on the UHH web site. Pentax does well in Europe and Asia. It's increasing its sales in Canada, and improving in the USA as more online reviewers are including Pentax products in their evaluations. Recently, I saw that both the Canon 7D-II and Pentax K3 both received an equal overall high rating of 87 from an independent technical camera review web site. People are starting to notice this. I've had 4 images put into a photo exhibit for two consecutive years. Usually, the other photographers ask which model Canon or Nikon I use! That's when I start to have fun.
