Question of appropriateness...baby nakedy butts

Do any of you do photographs of little nakedy baby butts? If so, what is the appropriate age to stop offering these? Definitely no frontal nudity, and what I am considering is an 18 month old little boy, in huge cowboy boots and huge hat in a 'barn' setting. Mama wants these done, and I'm totally fine with it, but just wondering others opinions.

I've seen one of those in a photo mag. The boots were so big they covered all of his/her legs. I think they are a funny, appropriate picture. Be sure to show the picture to the boy's girl friend in twelve years or so. I don't see how anyone can object to a picture like that UNLESS they are nineteenth century Victorian know-it-all.

One vote for.

What Tramsey said, I couldn't agree more!

At the Photo Center where I work the rule of thumb is we will print the nakedy baby butts photos until the child is two years old.

Birth/New born frontal shots until the baby is three months old.

Bath tub shots with more than one child = no fronts or bottoms allowed.

Hope this helps. We find it to be an easy rule to follow and most parents agree with us.

I suggest you be carefull with this, one lady in Florida was challenged by taking a lovely picture of a woman holding an infant close to her...Many saw nothing wrong with this, but she came close to being labeled with violating child pornography laws.....Every photographer I knew was surprised by the states action's...
I don't know what the results were of this case, because I moved from Florida.

I agree with Pat, Moms & Gramas love baby-bottms.... I did some last Christmas for a friend with babe under the tree on his belly with just a Santa hat, me shooting down on the floor towards baby's face but at an angle so little curves of his bottom showed. Of course that was moms and gramas favorite....

I was told by my boss I can only post backside shots to places like Facebook, or they will issue a violation regarding child pornography, so that's all I posted. I took a handful of front facing shots for mama, some clearly displaying his manhood, but not on purpose. An 18month old boy is impossible to keep still, lol. And on a more kidding note...what men don't like to strut their stuff? Ok, maybe that was inappropriate. Please understand, it was just a bit of humor.

Here are a few from the session. Comments welcome.

thought I'd throw in a different edit of the same pic
thought I'd throw in a different edit of the same ...

Mama could not get him to smile for nothin! And it turns out, he was up all night with a tummy bug, tossin' his supper. Poor lil' guy. Gosh I hope I don't get it!

cute, as a parent and photographer I get shots of my kids running away all the time, just saving those shots for the girlfriends and boyfriends and their weddings!!! What parent doesn't want an opportunity add an embarrassing moment for their child at some point in their lives!

These shots are nice, nothing wrong with them at all. People need to understand the difference between art and pornography.

Great shots! Unfortunately, some people see pornography in almost everything.

I love baby butts and don't see a thing wrong with them. And I agree with Pat. Sounds like some good guide lines.

I do not agree , at least keep them private, in home only.
I would not have posted them on U.H.H.For fear that some one would steal them, and use them for somthing other than cute pics.

I would have to agree that the web may not be the place to display them, but I love them on my walls and will keep them there until the subjects are old enough to complain. :-)
