Butterfly at the garden. My very first attempt at this type of photo.
Nikon d3000 wb set for direct sunlight ISO I think was 200 or 400, lens that came with the camera 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6G
had it set for flower, AF on because with my eyes, manual would be out of focus. Hand held.
You may let me know what I could have done better.

Tonopaugh! My in-laws used to live right between Tonopaugh and the bustling metropolis of Harquahela (I think I spelled that right).

Are those pics from the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, near Camelback Mountain. It's been about 30 years since I was there, but I remember it having some really nice desert plant displays. I'd just say on the photos, closer is better on those subjects, although it's a challenge on butterflies, skittish subjects that they are.

Crop in on the flowers and butterfly for better composition.

Yes, it is the Phoenix Botanical Gardens.
We had to stay on the trails, this was as close as I could get for pictures. I photographed about 600 pictures that day.
Close enough for the spelling. It took me quite a while to say it without hocking up a luggie. LOL

National Guard is still around the corner . God bless them.
