PLease help. Lightroom 4 transfer of files

Please please someone help me figure this out. I have a brand new computer (cause the one I bought 2-1/2 weeks ago i had to take back because of problems with it. They gave me a new one. I now again have to download my lightroom 4 software. I have all my photos on an external drive. I have them in lightroom but i cannot get all my edits on those pics back onto this software. I have watched so many utubes etc. and can't do it. Some one please help me!!

i opened i new folder and brought in the photos, so they are all there about 17,000 of them, but they don't show any of the editing i did on them from the past. Ive seen u are suppose to copy the lightroom LR4.ircat and another one.

you have to export after you edit.
when exporting, click on first photo of the group. then hold shift key then click on last of the group. then go to export, designating host folder. name it. then send.

all the edits ive done are in the past over the last few years.

i see you're suppose to copy two different files, but i don't know where to copy them to.

you can use first drop down window choose from three ways to save. after you enter export window mode.

i dont want to save the photos just the edits, i still don't understand this.

am afraid you didn't export the edits. that info will only be on old computer.

i do still have the old computer shouldn't the edits still be there

i just but my external hard drive back into the old computer and almosts all the photos are there with the edits, so when i closed out it asked to i want to back up catalog so i said yes to a new folder, 11-26-14.
