Fastest way to learn Photoshop?

I decided to subscribe to the $9.99/month Photoshop CC, not realizing how impossible it is to learn.
I've been using Lightroom for about 2 months, with now problems.
I can't get past opening a photo in Ps.
I have the free 3 months of Kelby One. I have watched the Ps tutorials over and over. I still don't get it.
Any suggestions on how to learn Ps?

The best way I have found is to take a course at my local community college. I took a class back with PS 5.5, and another one with CS5, about 15 years apart. Now I watch the CreativeLive sessions and learn a lot, and forget a lot, too. After that I "muddle".

If you have signed up, then you have access to Lightroom which is far easier to learn than Photoshop. I found Adobe's Classroom in a Book a great way to learn the basics of Lightroom. I have not gone through the lessons in Photoshop CC, but have glanced through it. As a long time Photoshop user, I think it also would benefit someone new to it. You can do each lesson at your own pace.

Don't let PS intimidate you. My impression is that people don't use more than 10 or 20% of its capabilities.

I found both books through my local library's online service (Safari - not to be confused with Apple's browser) along with the files needed to follow along with the lessons.

Agree - spend some time to learn Lightroom, most of your edits will occur in Lightroom....

Understand the catalog system Lightroom uses 100% - then venture into Photoshop for what you cannot do in Lightroom slowly.

Learning Photoshop CC all in one go is impossible. Learning Photoshop bit by bit is easy. Unfortunately, the videos do not teach bit by bit, they give you a lot to remember all at once so the process can be overwhelming.

As well as the over abundance of information being thrown your way, there is a confidence issue which disappears as knowledge increases.

If you are interested, I will open a thread in the Post Processing section, "How to get started in Photoshop CC" which will carry you through from opening an image, resizing, cropping, changing colour saturation, saving etc. all the building blocks - one by one - which will build up your confidence and introduce you to some of the basic tools.

We have all been at this point, you have an advantage in that you are already getting to know Lightroom, and that knowledge can be transferred to Photoshop.

The course I have in mind will also be applicable to new users of Elements since there is a common theme in the two programmes.

Please let me know if you want this.

pick a few things you want to learn (limit). Watch the video then try and do it, see where you get stuck and then watch the video again watching for the little nuances like shortcuts used, where in the menus the function resides, settings chosen etc. repeat. There is another similiar post in the general section with a more extensive answer.. It took me several months of doing this and finally it all clicked. I primarily use lr and only go to PS where lightroom can't do it or do it well enough. Be persistent and remember to try what you learn, doing is how you will learn..
