When Adobe had the special that when you subscribed for $9.99/month, they threw in 3 months of Kelby One training for free.
I have been watching the video's, but the video's don't help at all.
How long does it take to learn Ps?
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to speed up the learning process?
Lightroom is so easy compared to Ps.
I keep thinking about cancelling the Ps subscription.

I've been told:
If PS was your full time job, 8hrs/day, 5days/week, 52weeks/yr. When you retire, you still will not know everything PS can do!

Have fun!

You will end up spending more time trying master Ps than you would taking pictures.

I used Paint Shop Pro for a number of years before finally switching to Photoshop. Paint Shop Pro is a good (and way cheaper) option. You could also use Photoshop Elements if you don't need the brute power of PS.

I used www.lynda.com for online training. I think you can get a week for free. If you are retired, "attend class" every day for a number of days and you'll pick it up quickly. I've stayed with Lynda.com for a couple years now ($25.00/mo) and have learned Adobe Flash, PS, Dreamweaver, Premier Pro and others. Good Luck!

I too subscribed to the $9.99 a month plan. Best deal around for pp IMHO. Adobe doesn't do much for free. There are a ton of You Tube videos out there that are free. There are also a lot of individual photographers that teach PS CC for a fee. That said, I doubt you will ever master PS CC as it seems every time I learn one trick another comes along. But the program and what it does is well worth it IF you enjoy pp and are willing to take the time to learn it.

I don't want to be trite, um, yes I do. The answer is the rest of your life. You will always find something that you are not familiar with.

However, I suggest the book "Photoshop for Photographers" as a start. An alternative is to join Lynda.com and get the sample files. Then watch a little and try the edits on the trial files.

Just watching videos is no good.

The day you pop your clogs is the day in which you will have learned all you need to know.

I'm still running CS6 (never went to cloud version yet), and have used PS for many years. I feel like my knowledge of it is shallow.

PS is intricate, and post-processing in general is complex. So, depending on what it is that you want to accomplish, it might or might not be the best tool for you. I doubt that there are many people that have full confidence in their PS skills.

Having said that... If you are interested in digital painting and heavy digital post-processing, photoshop (and perhaps painter) are tools/toys that will entertain you for the rest of your life.

Your interest, needs, ability to learn and deal with frustration, and ability to dig in are the factors that determine if 10 bucks a month is worth it.

Even at 10 bucks a month, I couldn't stand being without it, but like I said, the CS6 I have is still good enough for me at the moment..

Thanks Bob! I'll check out the book.

I think the trick is to learn and master the basic post processing functions and use them regularly. As you get use to that you'll be able to take on more creative functions. The key is to use it, or loose it.

I don't know many people that have mastered PSCC. It is so powerful and full of wonders. I like the idea of not having limits. I've tried many other programs and I have many already. I seem to alwys fall back on Photoshop. I like NIK, OnOne, DxO, Topaz to name a few but PSCC is tops. I use KelbyOne and Lynda.com and Adobe TV. Not to mention YouTube's tutorials. I have a ton of paper books along with eBooks. I'm constantly amazed at what Photoshop will do. I also have Corel's programs on my PCs and have been using them since the advent of 386's.

I'm not looking to master PS. I am having problems after I open PS. I just don't understand what to do???
I have watched Kelby One's 2 1/2 video on the fundamentals of PS 5 times now. The 5th time makes as little sense as the 1st time I watched.
