Lightroom 5 import question

I'm running latest upgraded version of LR
Just shot Hockey game using 2 Nikon D750 Bodies
I had Sigma 120-300 2.8 on one
Other one switched between Nikon 24-70 and 70-200 both 2.8
Shot in RAW, Shutter Priority 1/500 (these are young kids) AWB, ISO 1,000, BBF, Continuous AF with spot, Metering spot with *

Two issues

1. When I imported photos from body with Sigma 120-300 some of the Continuous High shots were out of sequence, easy to tell with blue line and red line on the boards. I have sent email to Nikon rep not sure if it's the camera of LR.

2. When I imported shots from second body they were not placed at end of first import but sprinkled it what appears to be at random among first photo's imported.

I have never noticed this before. I also checked preference in LR and could find nothing about import order.

Is this LR issue? Nikon issue? or both. Is there some file sequences setting in either Nikon or LR to correct this? I can see number 2 happening but number one, where photos shot on Continuous high were imported out of sequence has me baffled but then again I baffle easily.

I have occasionally noticed that images were imported out of chronological order. I don't know why. I think it must be a LR issue. Easy to fix though. Just re-sort.

When I shoot a wedding with two camera bodies light room will import them in the order and the time they are shot. But this sounds like it is missing the time stamp.

Re-sorting 800 images while having to look at each to determine it's sequence can get tedious but I appreciate the reply, thanks

Just re-launched LR and they seem to have resequenced themselves in lightroom and the metadata does show time stamps.

What remains inexplicable is I had 18 photos from November 15, 3 photos from Nov 22 and 160+ from today (11/23) on one card taken with one camera. When i brought them up for import lightroom (before actual import) showed them in a random order. the 18 photos' and 3 photos' were sprinkled among the photo's from today. Since they were going to different folders based on content I had to manually deselect the 18 and 3, import the others and go back and repeat the process twice more. Thoughts????

That doesn't make any sense, be interesting to see what you figure out.

If the images were shot in sequence, surely each file name would be incremented by one. In which case Sort by filename, done in the blink of an eye.

Is the sort by filename feature available in the import preview screen?

Happens to me when I scroll back and forth through the pictures on the camera before importing.

In the library module at the bottom it says sort. There changes can be made.

When I use two cameras, before I start shooting I set the time on each to the exact time, and then in LR I sort by Time Taken.

Go to View-Sort in the top menu: LR will sort based on any of the critera shown and probably more.

I am referring to pre import on the import screen. The library screen only shows after import. the import screen has a sort button on the bottom. I just tried this: had a card with 2 old photos on it, took five new pics. Put card in computer and launched LR. with "SORT:OFF" it showed the 2 old pics first and then the five I just took. Everything as it should be. When I selected "Sort: Capture Time" it then showed the five most recent first and the 2 old last. In both cases the five I took today remained in the correct order.

I will continue to play around with it. I want to sort before import.
