Every year the Eagles congregate at the Conowingo Dam in Maryland. This is a great opportunity for the locals to take photos of these magnificent birds. I happen to catch a couple of decent shots.

Many of the people there told me this was a slow day and not a lot of eagles around. Could have fooled me.

Be leave it or not those people are trying for wing shots. The trees along the road into that area is loaded with Eagles just sitting on branches

Actually plenty of room along the parking lot that leads up to the employee parking and where the concrete warf pictured is.... maybe 1/8-1/4 mile long with a few picnic tables and plenty of clear shots across the river to the island.

There is also a walking path along the river to the south I believe. Or was at one time.

You are right about that. My bank account can't handle most of that hardware.

Mr. buzz,

Re: "Lucky Shot": Yeah, it's a good thing you didn't have to be prepared, be patient, know what to look for, or have any camera-handling skills. Hey, sometimes "luck" just comes ... doesn't it?!

Respectfully,

The dam puts out that the best times are November thru December, actually better when the spillways are operating as there are plenty of dead or dazed fish for them to catch easily.

Great captures: love the way the foliage frames the bird in the third capture.
