these shots were taken a week or two ago. it was our first storm of the year. i took these with my new sony a3000. getting used to it kinda. the day was very overcast, so there wasnt alot of color. i tried to capture the wet snow and the snow as it came down.
this one was taken out in front of my home. i couldnt get the color contrast the way i wanted. the green tree and the white snow. any suggestion what i need to change?

just a house back off a main road. i notice this series of winter shots have a blueish tint to them. i think i used a cloudy day white balance setting. is this normal or do i need to change a setting.

I think it is impossible to get perfect picture in such condition. I tryed to convert 1-st and 4-th pictures to B&W. When I can not improve color picture I convert them to B&W. If you do not mind I can show my version.

They're rather underexposed, which is what you'd expect shooting very snowy scenes. Search on "18% gray metering" to find explanations of why and what to do about it.
If you're using Lightroom for PP, correction is easy in two steps in the Basic tab. First, make a custom white balance: use the dropper tool and click on the whitest white in the picture, say the snow on the roof. Second, click Tone = Auto. Done.
With your permission I'll upload that result for the final shot. It turns out really rather dreamy, and you could continue tweaking it from there.
Now that I've tried it, those same steps make the first shot look awesome also.

All are nice but the last one is so very very pleasing!

I thought about B&W but didnt do it. Please show me what you can do, I am always willing to learn. Thank you

Thank you. I cropped that one to isolate the tractor. It had a real good feel to it.

I would be grateful for you to post your work with my shots. I do not have lightroom or such. I have picasca and paintshop. I am shooting mostly jpeg now as my computer can't handle raw photos well. Thank you for looking.
Now that I'm looking at these again, the wide landscape reveals dust on the sensor. You can see 2 or 3 blobs in the upper-left sky area.
(I wonder if my upload didn't work.)

I guess it failed so I'm going to try again. Note that although these might appear to be monochrome, they are not. You can see grass and the tree's flesh in No. 1.

Those look neat. Thanks for doing that. I will keep that in mind next time.

Thats the look I was hoping for. I did see some dust in previous shots and have cleaned it since then.i took a before and after shot on a white background at high apature. After I cleaned it I didnt see any more spots.
I really like the first one. It has nice composition and is kind of surreal. And it reminds me why I don't live in Pittsburgh anymore.

All quite interesting. Most have a bluish color cast. You can remove that by moving the temp slider a bit warmer.
