I would like your thoughts about the camera.
What features do you like the most?
What features do you wish it had?
What annoys you the most?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts
Unless you are committed to Nikon, get the new Canon D60 - much better camera at the same price.

Why do you prefer the Canon?

A good friend, previously a Canon owner, fell in love with a D7000 and bought it. She is smitten. She loves that camera so much she may even give up golf for it. Well, not THAT much. She says it is incredibly smart ... that it seems to learn as she uses it. More than I can say for most people.
I don't think I want to inter the ring on this "debate". I really don't care what anyone else uses. I'll stick to my D7000, the state of the art DSLR in the industry. :)
I know others have some or all of these, too, but I like having the 2 card slots for back up, overflow, or dual format, and being able to shoot the RAW + selectable JPEG (basic, normal, fine), I like the larger rear LCD, the extra control panel on the top so I don't always have to turn on the LCD for info, the great top of the line viewfinder technology. The metal body. There's so many great features you should read about, I can't name them all, and being new I haven't even used them all, yet. It's great, I'm very happy I purchased it over the D5100 consumer model I saw at Costco. The D7000 is a true "Pro-sumer" model.

I don't own one. I just have a good friend who owns one and loves it. I couldn't afford one and it would probably be too heavy for me if I could, but it's good to know that there are happy D7000 owners out there. Even if I'm not one of them. Glad that you are one of them. If I were bigger and stronger, younger and richer, I might be looking at one also.

Thank you for your recommendation. I have looked at the Canon line but at the time I bought my D5000 Canon did not offer an articulate LCD. Now I'm somewhat locked into Nikon because of the lens, the most expensive part of photography.

Hi - I noticed from your profile you like vineyards. Do you have photos you would like to share, I would love to see them.

Hi - I have enjoyed the photos you posted recently. Thank you for sharing that your friend would consider giving up golf for the camera - can't get a better recommendation than that.

Thank you for your comments. I too like the idea of two card slots and the more rugged metal body. Two things I wish my D5000 had. With the D5000's 12 mps the best blow up I can get is 16X20. With 16mps or higher I should get 20X30 with no loss of detail - would you agree?
I was doing 20"x30" canvas prints with my D90 at 12MP. I own what used to be known as Genuine Fractals, a special algorithm that enlarges up to 1000% without significant loss of detail. 6MP or 60 I can enlarge to whatever I want. Not the software is called Perfect Resize by OnOne Software. It's a plug-in or stand alone utility. Check it out for free at :

I debated the d5100 vs the D7000...thinking the weight of the d7000 would be an issue...it's not. The slight difference in weight is worth a few arm curles to manage.
