Being in the right place at the right time can be very rewarding. What a great sequence you captured.

Great shots jeep caddy. Ever notice that they always carry their fish head first. Has to be a great capture during their decent.

Great shots there are Ospreys here in the area but I don,t seem to do well unless they are asleep and not moving. The eagles in the area have a running joke about me they all seem to do Hip Hop and I end up with a real blurry picture. There is a place that the eagles and osprey like to hang around and the owner is rather upset,he has petitioned the court to remove his problem even if it takes shooting every one of them. It seems that the Birds of prey find his trout ponds a real nice place to take their broods for dinner, seeing how he runs a place that lets people in the summer fish for their supper what they catch he will clean and cook, only problem is that unlike the tourists the eagles and osprey leave their wallets at home!!!!

Almost 100% crop but still a cool sequence

Where is this? SoCal?

Yes, El Dorado Park in Long Beach CA.

I'll try to check it out the next time I'm in SoCal. I used to live in N. Long Beach. I try to visit Balboa Park-- but I've never seen Ospreys there. When was this taken? I usually visit in Winter.

There are at least 6 Osprey that are nesting close to the El Dorado Park and they stock the lake with trout every two weeks in the winter.

Great sequence! How long were you set-up as it shows quite a bit of planning and use of the available lighting.

That day was the first day I'd ever been to that park. I set up with the sun to my back but slightly over my left shoulder. I used my 500mm f4 lens and a tripod. There were about 20 other guys there with cameras and long lenses on tripods. They were not setup where I was; they were setup mostly about 50 yards to my left where there's a small creek. This was beginners luck for me because I wasn't setup for 30 seconds when the Osprey crash dived over to my right about 150 feet. I got the sequence and then an hour and 15 minutes later an Osprey crashed dived directly in front of me 10.1 meters out. I know this because I had my lens set for 10m to infinity and I got the shot "in focus". The Osprey was not completely in the frame because I was too close. I'll post those shots later.
