Please use informative post titles

I've been lurking on the fringe of the Forum for a few months, reading many of the daily posts and occasionally considering how I might contribute in a worthwhile manner. I must confess that I have observed some behaviors that I find somewhat irritating. Throughout most of my life I have managed by keeping my pie-hole closed but with age I seem to want to say more. I hope you will accept the following in the manner that it is intended; as constructive criticism and nothing else.

Imagine that you are a busy professional who has used Photoshop (or any other tool) for many years. You know the ins and outs of color adjustment, etc. You don't have all morning to spend reading each post at UHH. What will you do when you encounter my post which is a question about using the "Channel Mixer" in PS. I have thoughtfully entitled my post: "Need Help!".

I think you can see my point. My post will get a few responses from the usual suspects (bless their hearts!) but the odds are that someone like you who can provide an authoritative and accurate answer will not waste their time even reading a post so unimaginatively titled. You would however, probably respond to a post entitled: "How to use channel mixer in PS?". You immediately know that you can probably contribute some useful info (and you achieve new meaning in life and a reason to go on and the smug satisfaction that only attaches to a true know-it-all!). In addition, others with similar questions and interests will likely tune in hoping to glean some useful tidbits. Better for everybody!

This is longer than I intended so I'll save my other major beef for another post. (Unless you crush my fragile spirit with withering criticism!)

Might as well add a bit about searching first. Frequently the question has been asked and answered before.

Titles like "Woke up to pee" always grab me though.

I made a new topic the other day and I realized later that I did not use the right name for it. There is no way to change it after the fact.

Very true. But the OP is absolutely right. YOUR HELP PLESE does not inspire me to open the thread. We all make mistakes/typos, but I find it hard to believe that quite such a high percentage of Hedgehoggers are virtually illiterate. PLESE CHEK SPELING TWO!

Cheers,

R.

Hi Skyduster & SteveR: LOL !! I both understand your frustration as well as get a kick out of some of the absurd titles that I've seen here. Even some of the supposedly well named titles often lead me to ponder? "What in the world are they actually asking" Often time one has to ask for clairfication, simply because the person asking for help didn't know how to properly phrase the question. Generally speaking I enjoy reading each and every post, mainly because of the gem that might be hidden with in. Not necessairly because of the question posed but in the answers given.
