Get a BAADER filter. Try Kenderick Astrophoto for one. Google them. This is the safest for your eyes and camera.

Baader film filters are known for sharpness and quality.
I make all of my filters from Baader sheets.
I am about to post a shot from this morning with a homemade 77mm Baader filter.

http://www.highpointscientific.com/solar-filters-telescopes
They have 20x40inch sheets for $88.
Astrozap sells an 7x7 piece for $28. Since I have been building filters for scopes, the larger size was more economical.
http://www.astro-physics.com/index.htm?products/accessories/solar_acc/astrosolar was the last site I ordered from.
For direct visual you need density 5 material. Baader makes a density 3 for purely photographic use but it is not for direct visual. I have only used the density 5 material.

Amen to that, I tried the cheap solar films from eBay and I can't get a good focus.

Your welcome.
If you haven't, be sure and pull up the second link as they have a great write up of Baader filters and the process involved.
Best of luck to you and be extra careful if you do make your own.

It may not be the cheapest but it is the best that I have found for the do it yourself and its what the filter makers are using. To me that speaks volumes.
