I updated LR 5 the other day and it did work but sluggishly but now won't even open. I did some troubleshooting but now it's telling me it's incompatible with my system. ????? I didn't change my system! I run Windows 8.1. I had LR 5 running just fine on my brand new Dell All-in-One but I got an update notice for LR5 so I went ahead and updated. I've had slow down issues since then but NOW LR5 won't even open.
Any words of wisdom?

Not sure how the catalog thing works with LR but normally with this sort of problem I would uninstall the program via a third party uninstaller that also cleans the registry entries and simply re install it. Make sure it works properly and then update again.
So can you copy the catalog to a flash drive and import it to a fresh install of LR?
Other thing to try is a system restore to a point where LR5 was working OK. See that it runs smoothly and retry update.
Ive done both with problematic programs and been successful. Windows unistaller does not clear registry entries so you will need something like Your Uninstaller which wipes all traces of a program.

It might be worth doing it straight from a fresh start-up, and when re-installing, make sure that
everything unnecessary is shut down (browser, File Explorer etc). And check that your security software hasn't labelled Lightroom as a threat.

Searcher answered the post that this OP made on the main forum, with very specific instructions.
Searcher solved a problem I would never figured out about two days ago.
A Great Help for sure

Yes, he did. I would have posted about it here, too, but I've been quite sick all day. Hoping I'm on the other side of it now. And yes, Lightroom is working again. Edited 5 images before giving in to this illness and spending the rest of the day on the sofa. Thanks to everyone here for their thoughts and suggestions.
