The Rock

Last week the left coast had a storm that brought some extraordinary large waves. This was shot nine miles north of Hearst's Castle in San Simeon, California.

The rock is 80 feet high and the waves are causing a splash to go at least 120 feet in the air.

Great photo/Bad bone break! Are you all better now?

Good ocean wave/explosion pictures are hard to do. If you don't have good reflexes you end up with just rocks and no waves. In your case I think your shutter button finger is very quick and right on target.

I visit my daughter in San Francisco and love to travel down Rt #1 to Capitola. They have great shell fossil hunting along the cliffs there. Just remember to check the tide schedule or you won't be able to get there from here because the collection site will be under water! lol

Beautiful image. I'm glad you mentioned the height of the rock. Without that one wouldn't have any perspective of the ferocity of Mother Nature.
