Background Eraser tool in PS CC 2014 not working correctly. HELP please.

Somewhere along the way my BG Eraser tool has lost it's memory(mind), it only erases at the point where I click to sample and at the end of a drag, no where in between. Mouse and tablet pen act the same so I am guessing that it has something to do with preferences, but I could not find anything in there that helped. Is there a reset for that tool somewhere, or a fix that one of our members would know about? I am hoping that our guru (Searcher) has the magic answer.

I only use the BG Eraser long enough to clear a starting point . Then I switch back to the regular eraser because it does a cleaner and faster job of erasing and not leaving tiny missed spots behind . I just tried the BG Eraser in my PS CC 2014 and it doesn't work smoothly like it does in PS CC I just tried . It was jerky and sometimes after I moved it around it would erase when I let go . Must be a flaw in PS CC 2014. Since I only use the BG eraser like I explained , I'm not going to worry about it . I know this doesn't help fix it , but you know your not alone with the problem . On the toolbar at the top, set the Sampling Continuous, Limits Discontiguous, Tolerance 100%,Uncheck Foregound colour.

Try changing the tool setting to Sampllng Continuous, Discontiguious, Tolerance 50%, Uncheck Protect Foreground colour.

tried changing everything in the tool bar . It still only erased on the first click , then after that only when I let go of left click . I only use it like I already mentioned , so it doesn't matter to me . If I do need it for some reason , I can use PS CC where it works ok . I guess other members use it more . Just thought I would let you know it didn't help my PS CC 2014 ..Tommy

This is not a fix, but may help. My background eraser does this.

Same here Searcher, it sort of acts like the paint brush when you go from point to point, clicking at the points (like when you hold down the shift key. I did find the "reset tool" hidden under the tick triangle just to the right of the BG Eraser tool icon on the option bar, but it had no affect. This must be a bug that has not been addressed by Adobe as yet. Thanks Searcher for your time, if I find the fix I will post the procedure here.

"YES"! That is exactly my problem. Very frustrating to spend so long trying to fix something I thought was my faulkt when all the time it has been a fault in the program. I am like you, I don't use the background eraser very often, and so now I will work around it somehow. Thanks for finding that post for me RicknJude.
