Canon xmp metadata confusion-What is the shutter speed, etc?
Nov 20, 2014 12:12:16   #

The .xmp file below is so confusing.
I want to know the:
shutter speed
aperture
iso
maybe the mm, if available

Can you make heads or tails of this?

Thanks.

PS, where can I get a good explanation of how to decode all this. I would like to eventually understand it all. For now, I just need the above data.

.XMP is an Adobe extension
http://www.adobe.com/products/xmp.html and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Metadata_Platform

If you want the metadata, it is best to view from within your post processing program and or download a dedicated exif viewer.

Why not view the properties of the picture?

In Windows, right click on the picture and select properties -
select the details tab - this will give you the info you are looking for...

This is the properties of a pictures taken with a Canon 40D...

Wouldn't the ISO be 400?

Probably, but in Exif 2.30 the tag line is "PhotographicSensitivity" so I decided not to take a chance. I am not familiar with rdf sequences which I believe are more often associated with image manipulation.
